Three IN-AWE Awards for Creative Excellence

SAN FRANCISCO — Kane & Finkel Healthcare Communications received three awards for creative achievement and marketing excellence at the 2009 Healthcare Communication & Marketing Association’s (HCMA) International Awards of Excellence (IN-AWE) Awards. The 2009 In-Awe Awards ceremony took place on June 18, 2009, at the Westin Hotel in Jersey City, New Jersey.

“The competition and quality of entries for the IN-AWE Awards grows exponentially each year. We are really honored to be recognized amongst our peers,” commented Jonathan Peischl, SVP, Creative Director.

Kane & Finkel received a Gold Award in the category of “Best Use of Direct Marketing to Healthcare Professionals” for its outstanding creative work on the Six-minute Walk Test (6MWT) Kit created for Gilead Sciences, Inc. This all-in-one tool provides a standardized method for administering this metric for assessing disease severity in people with pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH).

Kane & Finkel also earned a Bronze Award in the category of “Integrated Campaign Public Service” for the BeatTheBSI Campaign, also created for Gilead Sciences, Inc., that helps to inform PAH patients taking IV prostenoids about the potential concerns for bloodstream infections (BSIs). This unified campaign clearly illustrates the concept of bacteria transfer, its risks, and simple steps for prevention, while avoiding alarm to patients.

The Bronze Award in the category of “Consumer Print Product or Service Brochure/Sales Promotion” was presented to Kane & Finkel for its excellent creative work on the Turn the Music On with Nucleus® Freedom™ music brochure for Cochlear, Ltd. This unique brochure allowed Cochlear to establish an emotional connection with hearing implant candidates who were searching for a better music-listening experience, while assisting audiologists in setting realistic and achievable goals for potential cochlear implant recipients.

Each year, over 160 different companies from all walks of healthcare marketing submit over 900 entries, making the IN-AWE Awards one of the largest and most prestigious competitions in the world of healthcare marketing.
